I have made progress decluttering since my last post. I went home that night and added even more clothing to the bags for Goodwill (or Amvets if the call before I dropoff the stuff.) It is such a struggle to part with things, but I've never yet regretted a piece of clothing or book I've parted with.
I've also made progress in decluttering my finances. This is part of my ninth step amends to myself. There are many things I've procrastinated on that are causing me harm, or at least not doing me any good. I've finally quit my gym ($40 a month). I haven't gone in over two years, yet they have been charging my credit card all this time. I finally got the guts to go in and sign whatever contract I needed to and got a business card with an address written on the back instead. Quitting that gym requires a Certified letter sent to their corporate offices. WTF! I threw a bit of a hissy fit, but I mailed the letter the next day. I also removed the V-cast option from my cell phone package ($15), but then added unlimited text messaging ($5) since I'm now using this feature with two people. Today I finally 'Upgraded' my DLS package to twice the speed for half the price (from $50 to $25). So in the last eight days I have reduced my monthly expenses by $75. I shouldn't have been paying for any of these things to begin with, but at least I won't be paying for them going forward. If I could just stay away from etsy.com I'd be in great shape.
This weekend I intend to sew my pirate dress and make a start on BugBoy's three-headed boy costume. I figure I'll have to make multiple stuffed heads before I get the hang of it, so I'm going to start off with some half-size pieces. I'm using the dress pattern on the right with long sleeves. I don't plan to make the overskirt shown on model at right unless it needs it or I have oodles of time left over after the three-headed costume. (Ha! Right.) This will be my first attempt to sew anything with gathers (the ruffle at bottom) or with elastic (neck and arms). It should be interesting.
I've been wanted to buy Halloween stuff, but I think I'm covered with my pirate costume and I don't need any more decorations, I'm not sure I'll put out the stuff I already have.
I really want to go through my library and get rid of books I know I will not read again. One thing that bothers me is that my full name is embossed in the title page of most of them. I never thought I'd want to get rid of any books. I certainly won't tear out the title pages, but is there any way to unemboss?
I STINK at getting rid of books - even mouldering old paperbacks. ksl used to have to sit with me and wrench them out of my hands.
I've gotten better ( moving from one country to another forces you to purge!) but I still have 2 huge bookshelves overflowing.
Can you emboss something over your name so at least it's illegible?
