My limbs feel leaden. Since I woke up Sunday morning I’ve felt exhausted. I had intended to put together my new IKEA shelves yesterday, but I couldn’t even summon the energy to go down to the garage and open a box, let alone make the multiple trips back up to the second floor to put the pieces together. My Dad and I unloaded the van into the garage and that’s as far as anything has gotten. The only boxes I could get up the stairs intact are the glass doors, but I might as well unpack those in the garage too.
We spent two hours walking around IKEA Saturday afternoon. In addition to the three bookcases and five glass doors I went there to buy, I ended up buying a dining room table as well. It isn’t the prettiest table, but I think the function will make up for its looks. I’ve been thinking that I should get a round or oval table for the dining room area. This table is either. My favorite part is that the extension is part of the table. When you pull out each side, you then just pull on a knob to lift the extension out of storage and into position. No need to store the leaves in the hall closet and I can do it myself easily. So the top isn’t pretty and it doesn’t have that rustic heavy wood I love. That’s what table clothes are for.
I’d love to think that tonight I will start bringing up the pieces and assembling the shelves, but I know I won’t. Instead I will baby this potential cold (I also have a cough and a weird voice) in the hopes that it won’t develop into anything worse. I’ve been drinking a lot of tea (iced and hot) and water. I’ve also increased my Vitamin C intake.
If I don’t get everything assembled this weekend I can certainly do it over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Note to self: Buy ingredients for green bean casserole this week before the stores run out.
