I finished my first yoga lesson about 3.5 hours ago. My shoulders and upper thighs are burning a little right now. It was super challenging. Sarah was great. Very good at modifying to protect my knees.
I did positions that my brain didn't think I could do. I couldn't believe it when I did the dolphin. When Sarah said, "now straighten your legs," I had to laugh, because it seems impossible. But I gave it a few more breaths and tried it. I did it. Amazing.
We did a lot of breathing, ab work, and I really can't remember everything. It will be a miracle if I don't wake up with cramps in my legs tonight. I'm taking Motrin and drinking water to try to reduce that.
I felt really good when it was over. It was more technical than I thought it would be. I guess it is weird that I didn't think of the physical aspect of yoga before. I had the image of people doing poses and breathing, but never put myself on the mat, never considered all the muscles working to get into them.
I want to schedule another lesson next week, but with the holiday it may not work out.
